Origin of Prayer Flags

Tibetan prayer flags originated in the Bön culture. The tribal people lived interdependently with the elements and environment. Prayer flags originally were a means of transmitting all good, all power, luck, peace and prayer, and acknowledging divine nature. Hung in high places, Tibetans believe that the sacred symbols and mantras are blown by the wind, spreading good and compassion into an all-pervasive space.
