The text opens with its title in the ancient Zhang Zhung language. From Tibetan, this title translates as Dzogchen: Main Points of Bodhichitta, the Enlightenment Mind.

This teaching is very brief, yet it is the root of all the teachings of the Oral Transmission of Zhang Zhung. The essential topics are all contained within it. If one truly understands the meaning of this teaching, there is nothing further to attain. It encompasses the view, the path, the result, and the practice of meditation— everything is included.

When we encounter terms such as the “nature of mind” and “primordial wisdom,” we should not expect to achieve more than a preliminary understanding at first. Nevertheless, as we continue to strive for deeper comprehension, our understanding naturally expands. Even though a profound realization may not arise immediately, establishing a basic understanding is essential for eventual complete realization.
